Putting Down Roots as a Habitat Homeowner
When Stacy saw her kids connecting and making friends at their neighborhood school, she knew it was time to put down some permanent roots for her family. She’d been renting in North Tulsa for years, but their current place never offered the stability she wanted for her family.
She began researching the local housing market, looking for affordable homes within her budget that would fit the needs of her family of four. That’s when a friend recommended she apply to Green Country Habitat for Humanity.
“I’d been thinking seriously about homeownership the last six or seven years, trying to figure out how to do it. I wanted to move towards building some equity, but a big barrier was just the uncertainty.”
Earth Day is Monday April 22nd, and we're celebrating all weekend long!
This 3-day event offers an environmentally friendly way to discard unwanted but reusable items, keeping them out of the landfill with supporting local families.
And as our thank-you, we're offering a free plant for the first 50 donations at the Tulsa or Broken Arrow ReStore locations during store hours.
With sod and landscaping going in now, our team is putting the finishing touches on Buena Vida in East Tulsa.
Located on a quiet cul-de-sac with sidewalks and a retention pond, this new 19-home neighborhood offers several floor plans. Each home features beautifully unique finishes as well as Energy Star appliances and construction.
9 out of the 19 homes are already sold or under contract, and we're currently accepting applications for the remaining properties. Down payment assistance is available to qualifying buyers.
We're kicking off Blitz Build 2024 next month, and we can't wait to celebrate with this year's participating sponsors and homebuyers!
Radio personality and financial advisor Clark Howard is our co-host for this special annual event, which draws an entire community together to raise walls on six houses in one day.
Howard explains the concept: "It's based on Midwestern barn raisings. It's all about getting a group of people together to build a home better, faster, and cheaper than it would be otherwise. And it just shows what 'people power' can do."
