Big Accomplishments & New Beginnings
Green Country Habitat homeowner Makaylah has accomplished a lot in the last year, and purchasing a new house is just the latest step in a much bigger journey.
Makaylah is a recent graduate from Lindsey House, an organization that provides shelter and support to women caring for children. In this program, she worked hard to become debt-free, earn professional certifications and a promotion at work, build a savings fund, AND purchase a new home through Green Country Habitat.
She recently shared her thoughts on the experience: "I can't put into words how proud of myself I am. I am over the moon."
We're so happy for Makaylah and all she's accomplished to build a safe, stable future for her family. Congratulations and welcome home!
Exciting news: construction on Whittier Townhomes is nearing completion, and work is underway on the final units!
Located in the historic Kendall Whittier neighborhood, this energy-efficient 23-unit complex is meeting a vital need for affordable housing and is the largest residential project in the area in decades.
Units in Phase I are nearly sold out, and we're currently accepting homebuyer applications for Phase II. Down payment assistance is available to qualifying families.
Upgrading your furniture or decor this holiday season? You can easily donate your unwanted items to the ReStore for another family to enjoy, and even schedule a free home pick-up of two or more large items by the friendly ReStore crew.
All donations to the ReStore are tax-deductible and directly support Green Country Habitat's mission to build safe, affordable, quality homes for Oklahoma families.
As the year comes to a close, we want to express our deepest gratitude for your support in 2023. Because of your generosity, Green Country Habitat has completed construction on a total of 564 new homes, with 73 new homes built in 2023 alone.
This year we focused on our North Tulsa Initiative and made great progress on our goal to build 250 homes in this area in the next five years.
We also started construction on a new East Tulsa development, Buena Vida, and are nearing completion on the Whittier Townhomes. In January, we're breaking ground on Black Wall Street Square, a 25-home single-family owner-occupied development.
Each home we build provides a strong foundation for a family, an opportunity on which they can build a better life. And your donation - in any amount - is vital to making the dream of homeownership a reality for more Oklahoma families in 2024.
