A New Start, and a Clear Path Forward
Welcome home, Myricco!
After years of moving from apartment to apartment, Myricco and his daughter finally have a place to call their own — their little piece of the American dream.
"It's new beginnings, new life,” says Myricco’s daughter. “I get to restart, refresh, and not have to worry about crazy stuff happening."
With guidance from Green Country Habitat for Humanity counselors, Myricco tackled his credit, reduced his debt, and made homeownership a reality.
"They gave me the structure and steps I needed. And here we are," says Myricco
His message to anyone on the fence? Reach out — even if you think you don't qualify. They'll show you the way.
"It's a great opportunity, a great program. I'm glad somebody referred me, because if not, I wouldn't be standing here right now."
Congratulations, Myricco! Special thanks to Maplemark Bank for providing an affordable mortgage.
Bring a Homeowner Orientation Meeting to Your Neighborhood
Stories like Myricco's start with a single conversation — and we want to make that conversation easier to have.
This June, we took our Homeowner Orientation on the road, hosting info sessions in North Tulsa, East Tulsa, and Wagoner. These classes are the first step toward buying a Habitat home and are typically held at our offices. But we know that getting across town isn't always easy. So we're coming to you.
Know a church, community center, library, or neighborhood group that would be a great host? We'd love to connect. Help us find our next stop.
Donation Pick Ups Expanded to More Parts of Green Country
Green Country ReStores are happy to announce an expanded coverage area for donation picks ups to include Glenpool, Collinsville, and Sapulpa.
This is a great way to make a donation to your local ReStore that helps build affordable housing without the hassle of doing any of the work. Just give our team a call or schedule an appointment online and we’ll get you on the schedule.
Please note: you must donate at least two large items to schedule a donation pick up. Items must also be in good, working condition.
Due to unexpected delays, we have moved the Clark Howard’s Blitz Build, originally scheduled for early July 11 to September 26.
Despite this change, we are looking forward to the cooler temperatures in late September, and the opportunity to host a larger community event at the Wilshire Trails neighborhood near 33rd Street North and Peoria.
This year’s Clark Howard’s Blitz Build will kick off the 31-home neighborhood by seeing sponsors teams and volunteers raise walls on ten homes in one day—making this our largest Blitz Build ever.
Refill the community blood supply and help fund affordable housing. It’s not uncommon for blood donations to drop in the summer, but our blood institute says it is in critical need.
Thanks to our partnership with Donable Cares, you can help us and the at the same time. Here’s how your donation can build homes.
New donors generate $100 for Green Country Habitat
Lapsed donors generate $25 for Green Country Habitat
Returned donors generate $15 for Green Country Habitat
