Rooted in the Country,
Ready to Grow in Wagoner
Welcome home Demitri and Sydney — a young couple starting a new life with Habitat for Humanity in Wagoner.
Demitri, a welder with Andy Anderson Metal Works, and Sydney, a certified nursing assistant at Montereau, are looking forward to their future together. Married just a few years ago and now both 23, Demitri and Sydney have outgrown the one-bedroom apartment they share with their energetic border collie-lab mix. With their whole future ahead of them, they dreamed of living in a bigger home with a backyard, and enough room to grow as a family. Seeing this, Demitri’s mother encouraged the couple to apply to Habitat for Humanity’s Homebuyer Program.
From there, Demitri and Sydney began on a path that would make their dream a reality. They say they both really enjoyed the Homebuyer Program and the lessons they learned, particularly on money management. But when it came time to buy their Habitat home, Demitri and Sydney decided to leave Tulsa and move to Wagoner.
“I’m a country boy, I just love being in the country. It’s closer to the woods, lakes, and stuff like that” said Demitri, with Sydney adding, “He loves the country. He loves to fish. He loves to hunt.”
With the two looking to move into their new home soon, they’re imagining they're reflecting on the journey that made this all possible. For future homeowners, they have this advice: start finding ways to save money now, be patient with the process, and stay committed.
Congratulations, Demitri and Sydney, and special thanks to Tulsa Teachers Credit Union for helping make the dream of homeownership a reality.

Tulsa’s biggest disco party since the 1970s will be here before you know it. Join us for a night of dancing, music, and community at Rock The House: Studio 918 on May 9, at the Arvest Convention Center in Downtown Tulsa.
Rock The House is more than a celebration—it’s where community leaders, companies, and supporters come together to make a tangible difference for local families. As Green Country Habitat’s only major fundraising event, this night fuels safe, affordable homeownership and helps build strength, stability, and self-reliance across the Tulsa area.

Construction is gaining momentum at Black Wall Street Square, a mixed-income, multi-unit development in North Tulsa designed to honor the area’s legacy while expanding access to affordable homeownership. The community will feature thoughtfully designed, energy-efficient townhomes that create opportunities for stability, pride, and long-term investment in the neighborhood.
In January, contractors poured the footings for Buildings One and Two, preparing the site for plumbing installation. With this milestone complete, the project is expected to go vertical in the coming weeks as the vision for Black Wall Street Square continues to take shape.
Stay tuned for progress updates and learn how this development is helping build a stronger future for North Tulsa.
