Maximizing Homebuying Power: Skylar’s Success Story

DID YOU KNOW: Green Country Habitat partners with other homebuyer programs to help qualifying buyers achieve their dream of homeownership.

Skylar, a 34-year-old childcare center director, collaborated with us, North Tulsa Forward, and the Cherokee Nation to turn her dream of owning a home into reality during the 2024 Blitz Build with Clark Howard.

Her advice: "Do it now! People think it’s just for those with kids, but you don’t need children to qualify. They guide you through the process, and you get a brand-new house! You can’t top that."

Special thanks to Gateway Mortgage for providing Skylar's affordable mortgage and Blitz Build Sponsor First Presbyterian Church of Tulsa. Skylar shared, "Thank you for building my house and donating your time and effort. I’m so blessed and deeply appreciative!"

Last year we hit some big milestones, including:

  • Completing construction on 76 new affordable homes, our largest annual amount yet
  • Breaking ground on Black Wall Street Square, our most high-profile and anticipated project to date
  • Dedicating Whittier Townhomes, our very first townhome development, with Tulsa Mayor Monroe Nichols
  • Relaunching Women Build with five awesome, all-female construction teams
  • Serving over 500 clients through our Homeowner Services programs

We love celebrating these wins, because we know each one represents the potential to change lives and futures right here in our community. 

2024 was a fantastic year, and we’ve got even bigger things in store for 2025. Stay tuned for exciting updates ahead!
